One of the audio wires was broken inside the wire.
Let's sacrifice an old headset, so we can use the 3.5 inch stereo audio jack with a bit of the wire as a donor for the equalizer.
Bye headset.
Now open the unit.
Lift the sliders on the front, so the circuit board can be removed.
The yellow and red wires (left and right signal) are broken somewhere along the wire. Let's replace the whole wire.
Here's also a nice opportunity to clean everything. Hair and dust.
The new red wire and the new yellow wire, now green. The earth wire went somewhere too.
And the new wire with a 3.5 inch stereo jack comes out of the unit.
